The Norristown Flower Club will be having their annual flower show this month – here are the details:

Details: This year’s theme is “Flower Power”, based on the 60’s and 70’s. There will be design entries named Star Trek, Tie a Yellow Ribbon, Age of Aquarius, The Beatles, Lunar Landing, Peace and miniature designs entitled Woodstock and Let Freedom Ring. And a special exhibit “Jackies Jewels”.

This year, the public is encouraged to enter the Horticulture and Novelists Designs categories with specimens of flowers or trees. Participants must pre-register by contacting the Norristown Garden Club at info@norristowngardenclub.org.

Details: From a pumpkin ring toss and a monster bean bag toss to pumpkin decorating, there will be several festive activities for children of all ages.

At 4:30 p.m., the South Philly Vikings of the Philadelphia Mummers – Fancy Brigade will lead a Mummers Strut Parade around the mall. During the festival, there will also be a station for children to try on the Mummers’ elaborate costumes and fortune-tellers to read your palm and tarot cards. (Tickets are complimentary but required in advance for the fortune-tellers; beginning October 1st, visit the mall’s Customer Service Desk on the Lower Level near the fountain to pick-up tickets while supplies last.)

This event is free and open to the public and is also the kick-off of Plymouth Township Police Department’s Lieutenant Patty Simons Food Drive. Attendees are encouraged to donate to the Food Drive for a bag of assorted Halloween candy. Also, the Plymouth Township Fire Department will have one of their fire trucks on display.
